İngiltere ve Hollywood’da çalışmış İngiliz film yönetmeni.Dram,komedi ve Müzikal filmler yaptı. İngiltere’deki en verimli çalışması 1958-1960 arasıdır.1961 yapımı 7 dalda Oscar’a aday gösterilen  ‘’Guns Of Navarone’’un başarısı,yönetmenin Hollywood’da çalışmasını sağladı.Filmde Gregory Peck,Anthony Quinn ve David Niven oynuyordu. 1962 Robert Mitchum’la‘’Cape Fear’’, 1962 Yull Bryner’le ’’Taras Bulba’’,1964 Shirley MacLaine’le ‘’What a Way to Go’’ gibi ses getiren filmler çekti. 1970’lerde ve 1980’lerde çektiği filmlerden 1974’’Hicklobery Finn’,1986 ‘’Murphy’s Law’’ ,1984 ‘’The Ambassador’’ sayılabilir.

Filmleriyle:1956’’Yield to the Night’’ Cannes Festivalinde gösterildi.1958 ‘’Ice Cold in Alex’’ Berlin’deFIPRESCI  Ödülü Kazandı. 1959 ‘’North West Frontier ‘’ Bafta’ya  aday gösterildi.1959’’Tiger Bay’’ Bafta’ya aday göste-rildi.1961’’The Guns Of Navarone’’  7 dalda Oscar Adayı,  Golden Globe ödülüne aday gösterildi. Toplam 49 film yaptı
