California’nın ilk film stüdyosu ‘’Flying A Studios’’’u çalıştıran yönetmen. Bir dizi Western ve komedi çekti. Sesli dönemde,çocuk oyuncu  Shirley Temple’la 1937 ‘’Heidi’’,1938 ‘’Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm’’’ı yönetti.Victor Fleming’in sinemaya girmesine yardım etti. 50 yıllık meslek kariyerinde,53 senaryo yazdı, yarısı sessiz dönemde olan,407 film yaptı.
