Küçük bütçeli  korku filmleri ve film noir ile tanınan Fransız yönetmen. İlk filmini Hollywood’da çekti 1939 ‘’They all Come Out’’ .

Bütçesi kısıtlı da olsa ‘’Out of the Past’’,’’Berlin Express ‘’ öne çıkan filmleri oldu.Son filmlerini gerilim ustası aktör Vincent Price ile yaptı.’’1964 The Comedy of Terrors’’,1965’’War-Gods of the deep’’

Sinemadan sonra,Televizyon için de ’’The Twilight Zone’’gibi seri filmler yaptı. 75 film yöneten Tourneur,çeşitli kategorilerde başyapıt filmler vermeyi başarmıştır.
