İngiliz sinemasınıon önde gelen Film Yönetmeni. 1.nci Dünya savaşında İngiltere Başbakanı Herbert Henry Asquith’in oğludur.Sessiz film yöneterk başladığı meslek hayatında,1929  ‘’A Cottage on Dathmoor’’la çıkış yaptı.1938 ‘’Pygmalion’’ George Bernard Shaw’un bir piyesinden yapıldı. Terence Rattigan’ın piyeslerinden 1948’’The Winslow boy’’,1951 ‘’The Browning Version’’,filmlerini çekti. Orson Welles’in oyunu 1952 ‘’The Importance of Being Earnest’’ güzel filmlerinden biridir. 1960’da Saphia Lauren ve Peter Sellers’in oynadığı ‘’The Millionairess’’ ,1963 Elizabeth Taylor ve Richard Burton’un oynadığı’’V.I.P.’s’’,1964 Rex Harrison ve geniş bir yıldız kadrosuyla çektiği ‘’The Yellow Rolls Royce’’ sinemaya kazandırdığı eserleridir.
