İngiltere doğumlu,Amerikalı Film Yönetmeni. B tipi filmler yönetti.Universal Stüdyolarında Asistan olarak başladı. 1944’de’’Silent Partner’’ filmiyle yönetmenliğe yükseldi . Genelde cinayet,esrarengiz olaylar,suç,Film-noir , avantür ve  western  türlerinde çalıştı .  Süperman  seri filmleri yaptı.

1955-1965 arası TV dizileri ile meşhur oldu. TV dahil toplamda 74 film çekmiştir.
