WALTER LANG    1896-1972

Amerikalı film yönetmeni. New York City’de Film yapım şirketinde memur oldu,zamanla yönetmenliğe kadar yükseldi.Ressamlığa merak sardı,Ressam,artist ve yazarların bir araya geldiği Paris’te Quartier Monparnasse’da ve Mont Martre’da  yaşadı.Ancak netice alamayınca ABD’ye film işine geri döndü.1925’te sessiz film çekmeye başladı.1930’larda 20th Century Fox’da renkli müzikaller yönetti.

 1953’’Call me Madame’’, 1957’’The King and I’’, 1960’’Can-Can’’ 3 filmi, Directors Guild of America’ DGA Ödülüne aday gösterildi En çok bilinen filmi ‘’The King and I’’ (kral ve ben) olup,Oscar’a aday gösterildi.Toplam 66 film yaptı. 19ı60 yılında Hollywood Bulvarına Yıldızı kondu.

1960 yılının en çok izlenen müzikal filmi.Fakat gişe geliri maliyeti karşılamadı.Cole Porter’ın şarkıları hit oldu.Oscar’a ve Golde n Globe’a  aday gösterildi, ama kazanamadı. Müzikler ise GRAMMY Ödülü kazandı.Shirley McLaine ve Frank Sinatra  GOLDEN LAUREL ödülü kazandı.
